Call for Applications for 26th Annual Export Achievement Awards

Business savvy Nova Scotia exporters with excellent export records and a competitive edge, should submit applications for the 26th annual Nova Scotia Export Achievement Awards.
Nova Scotia companies are invited to submit applications for the annual exporter-recognition event, being held at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax on Thursday, May 21.
Seven Nova Scotia companies will be recognized for skill and dedication through outstanding exporting achievements.
The awards are designed to honour exporters' growth, innovation, partnerships and business volume. They also recognize the contributions exporters make to Nova Scotia's economy.
All award winners will be featured in promotional brochures, newspaper advertising, video presentations, as well as on cable television and websites. Winning companies will receive the 2009 Nova Scotia Export Achievement Awards logo to use for promotional purposes. A unique, handcrafted award is presented to each winner at the award ceremony.
Past winners say they have gained lasting and significant recognition by winning an Export Achievement Award. The award helps raise the company's profile at home, attracts new foreign customers and boosts employee morale.
"It was an honour for our company to receive an Export Achievement Award," said 2008 Long Term Exporter award winner, Phil Ellwood, plant manager of Louisiana-Pacific Corporation. "Exporting is critical to our success and important to the province's economy.
"The award is an encouraging form of support and recognition."

In 2007, Nova Scotia's export industry for international goods and services was valued at $7.5 billion. The province is also home to more than 850 international exporters.
The Nova Scotia Export Achievement Awards are presented by NSBI, the province's business development agency, and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA). NSBI is the investment attraction arm of the province and assists Nova Scotia companies meet growth potential trade development, business advisory services and business financing.
