About the Presenters:

Michael MacIntryre is a Senior Partner, Consulting based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In this role he brings value to entrepreneurs and leverages his experience and success as a member of the local BDC Consulting team to work with our internal partners in order to have a positive impact on our Consulting clients in Atlantic Canada.

Prior to joining BDC in July 2010, Mike had worked in the oil and gas sector internationally for several decades – including Canada, Latin America, Europe and Africa.  He also has an entrepreneurial background, having owned several businesses based in Atlantic Canada in both the manufacturing sector (i.e. auto parts and textiles) and service sector (i.e. industrial supply and construction sectors).   

Mike holds a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Mary’s University, attended Schlumberger Center, Pau, France and has completed an International Management Program from Ivey Business School at Western University.

 

Jessica McCall has 10+ years of experience working with exporting companies on international trade missions and has been an adult educator for 17 years.  Jessica holds a CITP designation with the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT), BA and BSc. degrees and an Adult Education Certificate from Dalhousie University.  Jessica is an Export Development Executive and a member of the NSBI Export Readiness Team.  The team’s focus is to work with companies that are export curious, new to export or those that are exploring new markets. 

 

Edward Steeves is the Regional Vice President, Atlantic Canada for Export Development Canada (“EDC”) where he is responsible for the leadership of EDC’s business throughout Atlantic Canada. 

EDC is Canada’s export credit agency whose role is to support and develop Canada’s export trade by helping small, mid-sized and large Canadian companies respond to international business opportunities across a spectrum of industry sectors. EDC is a self-financing, Crown corporation that operates at arm's length from the Government and provides trade credit insurance, export financing, bonding solutions, and extensive trade and international market expertise to Canadian exporters. 

Edward leverages more than 20 years of experience in the financial services sector including senior leadership roles at RBC Royal Bank, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Maritime Life Assurance Company. He brings a wide variety of skills from a diverse financial markets background which includes Canadian corporate and commercial banking, structured finance and project financing.  Edward has a Master of Business Administration degree from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University.

Edward has been an active community member with past board roles with Junior Achievement Nova Scotia, the Canadian Center for Ethics in Public Affairs, the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia and the Trans Canada Trail Foundation. Edward resides in Halifax, NS with his wife, Marney, and two daughters.
