Building the Future of Ocean Technology

Nova Scotia is a world leader in ocean science and technology, but how can we engineer even more company success stories.

Find out over breakfast on Friday, May 19, 2017, at the Technology Innovation Centre.

Our gathering will feature three engineers-turned-business-leaders from thriving local ocean technology ventures. They’ll tell you about local and international trends in ocean innovation and how Nova Scotia stacks up internationally. Plus, they’ll offer an insider’s perspective on running successful, export-focused ocean technology companies while calling Nova Scotia home.

Mark Jollymore, President & CEO, AMIRIX/Vemco (vemco.com) – Mark has been with AMIRIX Systems for over 12 years in a variety of positions, from regional manager to director of customer support to vice president of administration. Appointed president and CEO in 2012, Mark and his team have built on the success of the company’s acoustic telemetry fish tracking and monitoring technology, delivering engineering and commercial success around the globe.

Jamie Sangster, CEO, LeeWay Marine (leewaymarine.ca) – Jamie is a 20-year veteran of the ocean technology industry, having worked in engineering and marine roles since the early 90’s. His career has spanned the defence sectors as well as the naval architecture field. Jamie served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 20 years as a marine systems engineer and naval architect and has been CEO of LeeWay Marine for the past year.

David Steele, Director of Product Development, MetOcean Telematics (metocean.com) – David joined MetOcean in 2007 as a project development manager and has seen his role change as the company has grown to become an international leader in its industry. Now serving as director of product management, David helps MetOcean maintain its competitive advantages and bridges gaps between engineering and production teams in product development processes. Prior to joining MetOcean, David held various development and engineering roles and received his engineering education from TUNS and SMU.
